Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Morning gill I had a good night had about 5 hours best so far x

  • Morning Julie.

Excellent news!  That's what we need to hear, so today just go about your normal routine and get some relaxing time in too.  I guess you'll be thinking about the scan tomorrow but try not to dwell on it as it's part of the process to get you better.  Dani gave you great advice on what to expect, so you'll be prepared.

Hey, I did slightly better than you and got about six hours in!  Yahoo!  I don't know if your hubby likes sport but my fella loves it, and will be watching the rugby this afternoon.  I hope I'll nod off when it's on!

If we don't speak again today, best of luck for tomorrow.  You'll be fine.

  • I'm off work now usually do weekends so hubby can watch sport all day my son is taking me out for a couple of hours to get out so he can watch sport but he's not into rugby Manchester United fan sometimes when watching them you would think he own them lol hope you have a lovely day speak later xx

  • That's funny about him thinking that!  Afraid I'm the same though, and throw loads of unwanted expletives at the screen when watching football, always thinking I could do better than the manager.  Ahem!

Enjoy the trip out with your lad and I plan to enjoy myself too, so thank you for your kind wishes x

  • Hi Gill and all you Night Hawks! I haven’t been on here for a couple of days, not because I was sleeping but because I was doing a Challenge on the Jigsaw App.

I haven’t never heard of Barmston but we will definitely visit there this time! To those who’ve been there, Where do we find the best Ice Cream and the best food please. Is it far from Bridlington, we like it there! I will google it later but I never google anything to do with cancer. Did you know their statistics are well out of date!!

Instead of saying 2 hours ago or 16 hours ago in reply to…..I wish it just told you what time the post was posted

Hope everyone is asleep now as it is 02.21 BMT

    Love Annette x

  • Morning fellow night hawk Annette.

I did intend to try and sleep but a film came on (Spanish, subbed) but it was so good I watched it.  Hey presto!  Wide awake again at 2.26 am.  Ridiculous!

If you have sat nav, a few miles from Barmston there's an ice cream parlour we once went in.  It was great.  This was a few years back though, so might not be open anymore.  It was on the way to Hornsea so will be easy to Google.  I've forgotten the name of it.  I would ask my fella but he's sensible and went to bed at half ten - that's like the middle of the day to me!  I'm crackers.

Anyroad, if you're contemplating getting your head down, go for it lass.  Me?  I'm off up to the loo.  Rivetting stuff!

  • Guess what wide awake everyone asleep hate being up this time by my self xx

  • Not everyone's asleep Julie - Annette and me are also in the wide awake club!

What time is your MRI?  If it's early you could use your insomnia to your advantage and doze off whilst in the machine.  There's an idea for you, although it's probably one of my dafter ideas.  I'm full of those.

I used to think it was just me, but I've recently discovered a fair few who've had a bust-up with kip since joining here.
