Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • That’s really bad, Jane. I asked about insufficiency pelvic fractures years ago after treatment and was told I didn’t have any but there was “something” on my hip. As it hadn’t got worse when I was scanned multiple times before my exenteration nobody was bothered so it wasn’t investigated any further. So it’s just got worse and worse over the years.

I’ve looked up the chap I have the appointment with and he’s an experienced surgeon specialising in hip replacements. He gets some good patient reviews saying he treats you with respect and gives full explanations of everything so that sounds hopeful!

How are things with you? Any progress with the house sale?

  • Helen, you need to click on the “insert” arrow below when you’re replying to a post, and then click on “image/video/file”where you can upload a photo from your own library if that’s what you’re looking to do.

I've got that far but there's no way to select a photo from my gallery

  • Thank you Sarah, for the link and your good wishes.

Years ago my elderly auntie (gone, but never forgotten) had a fall and needed a hip replacement as a result.  She'd already had multiple surgeries and wasn't keen for another, but after that and recovery, was delighted with her increased mobility.  She said it was worth it and felt years younger.

It's great that your potential surgeon is top notch and will treat you as precious cargo xx

    Hugs xxx

  • Hi Helen

When you get as far as the image/file/video, the word “upload” appears underneath (it looks greyed out). Click on that and it takes you to your photos to scroll through your gallery. Click on the picture you want and that should be you sorted.

    Sounds good.

  • I'll try again, thanks

  • I’m so encouraged by lots of positive stories about the surgery. And it’s a much shorter surgery than ones I’ve had in the past! I’m so stuck right now with not being able to move about and it’s incredibly frustrating for me. And I hate that I need so much help with everything. I’m only 63 and feel about 83 most days!

  • Now I've worked out the photos here's some of my cross stitch.

  • That sounds promising. The house price was drastically reduced yesterday in the hope it will finally sell.I haven’t told my sister yet she won’t be happy but she will still be able to get land as planned.I really wanted a little garden but that is looking unlikely now and I’ll be further away from John. There is nothing affordable locally.Xx

  • You are talented,they look great.Love Jane x
