Are you having trouble sleeping?

Sleep problems may be caused by how you’re feeling emotionally, or as part of the side effects for cancer treatment. If you find it hard to have a good sleep, you’re not alone. The Online Community is here to support you 24/7.

“Getting a cancer diagnosis is extremely stressful, and that brings a whole load of emotions, and lack of sleep certainly does not help. I think many of us have periods of insomnia. I experienced a long period of not sleeping. I could go off to sleep quite quickly, but after an hour I would find myself wide awake again, and would spend the rest of the night getting frustrated because I couldn't sleep."

  • Crikey Eddie!  I'm not bad at DIY but wouldn't want to tackle taking a window out.  My OH is hopeless so is content to watch me do the honours...he does pass me the screws though.

    Love and hugs xxx

  • "three of my cancer friend's and I are off to Ayr and Belfast for a few days soon fab."

Hi Eddie... if I can give you a lift anywhere around Belfast just let me know

  • I’m feeling good today thanks Gill!

I much prefer the fabric covered recliners and they are warmer than leather to me. iPad leads are so short that the inbuilt charging port on ours at the side beside the recline button is just perfect. Hope you’ll find the same.

My neighbour at the back passed away, so his house was up for auction. I looked at the pictures inside online and it was like something out of the 70s! Didn’t even have central heating so there’s a huge amount to be done. Noise isn’t too bad today but I’m a bit nosy and can’t see what they’re doing as I can’t get out!

We didn’t get on with him or his wife-he used to spy from an upstairs bedroom at my neighbours here, and me in the days when I could do things in the garden. Always listening to the police radio-I could hear it from mine. One of my neighbours reported him to the police for spying at her daughter’s bedroom windows with binoculars and my neighbours warned us about him when we moved here. We’ve all had a few ding dongs with him over the years! Luckily all our other neighbours are lovely.

Have a good day-I’ve got a few jobs to do -trying to plan menus and shopping for our new eating plan to take account of my diabetes and digestive issues. Everything seems to say this and that are not good so I’ll be eating dust at this rate!

  • Oh lawks Sarah!  You had the veritable neighbours from hell!  But once the renovations are done, hopefully you'll get nicer ones.

One of ours is a spy; he lives across our gardens, on his tod, but also seems to enjoy indulging himself!  Ahem.  I ignore his antics but live in hope he'll come a cropper when balancing on whatever contraption he uses for swan-necking.  Luckily, the garden wall between us is about eight feet high, so I only notice his 'frolics' during the evenings.

We do discuss some diverse topics on here...xxx

  • Ah Sarah, losing our furbabies is always more than painful. He's not quite 8 but he's a v large dog and they're average life span is 8. Having said that it's his joints that are  letting him down, in all other aspects he's a puppy at heart. A great big softy and it breaks my heart to think I might have to make the unkindest call of all.

Anyway, we're hopefully not going to have to do that yet and he'll recover enough to last months if not years more.

We had 3 cats and 4 dogs at one point. We've lost all our cats now but they had long and happy lives.

I just love my animals, as I know a number of us on here do.

  • Hi Edde,  we came on holiday to Wales and just loved it so much we sold up and moved here the following year. That was 2015.

Weve both been rolling stones over the years, moving countless times, but our stone stops here. We live near Cardigan. So not far from Aberystwyth.

  • The toast worked, it has amazing restorative properties.

We're now in Canterbury in our motorhome, we've been for lunch and to M&S to buy some goodies for the weekend Yum

We have a reclining leather sofa, it's a few years old now, I slept on it quite a lot after my hysterectomy as I couldn't stay comfortable in bed all night. I love it but would go for fabric if we replace it.

  • Good old toast Helen - costs nowt and the best medicine!  I'm well pleased you're on your travels and enjoy every single day.

Yep, I've taken Sarah's suggestion to go for fabric as it's cosy, especially in winter.

    Have a great time xxx

  • Hi Sarah, sorry for the late reply, I needed more time at the hospice than I thought and an unscheduled visit to hospital, all good.

Just 15 miles apart, I too doubt anyone on the thread live closer, but I do have a friend on Macmillan who lives closer, and I'm doing the hospital rounds too, 9 in Yorkshire, Bassetlaw and Addenbrooks, and I understand, it's lovely to go back to Scotland, but this is where my heart is.

    love Eddie and Sheila xx
