Introducing myself

Hi lovely people, I'm recently diagnosed with breast cancer, about to have my second operation in 4 weeks, Stage 2, and one cancerous lymph node was found when some were extracted during the lumpectomy, hence more surgery to remove all the lymph nodes, on Thursday. Currently can't sleep, and thought I'd join the forum to chat to fellow cancer warriors (hope that term is ok!)

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I had a lumpectomy and a couple of lymph nodes removed but I didn't then need surgery to have them all removed. Although I haven't had the same experience, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment to date into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

As for if the expression "cancer warriors" is okay, well the jury is probably out on that one. I certainly don't consider myself to be a warrior and lots of people dislike the term as it somehow implies we've chosen to 'fight' whereas we haven't actually got a choice.

Wishing you all the best for Thursday
