I finished my treatment for b cancer just before Christmas . I had chemo, lumpectomy and radiation. I had three weeks but they couldn’t do the boost of radiotherapy because I had healed so well as they couldn’t see where the tumour was .  They said it would cause damage to my breast if they did.I was upset but had to trust them but I am interested to know if anyone else didn’t have the extra boost.  I have just started for some reason to get anxious because I was 47 when I was diagnosed last year and one node was positive and from what I’ve read a boost would of helped with recurrence.
thank you

  • Hi and a very warm welcome to the online community

I can't help with your question but I noticed that you hadn't had any replies yet.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also join and post this is the main breast cancer group as it's more active than this one and I'm sure you'll find someone there who has the right experience. If this is something that you'd like to do clicking on the link I've created will take you there where you can join and post in the same way as you did here.

It would be great if you could pop something about your journey so far into your profile as it really helps others when answering or looking for someone with a similar diagnosis. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

  • Hi

I had a boost when I had radiotherapy 3 years ago, I had it as my margins where close.

What damage did they say? I do have a mark where the boost pad was but I don't really look at it
