Hi, I am 8 weeks post radiotherapy and feel that all I do is work (13.5 hours per week only) and sleep. I do a breakfast shift so am up at 6am, back napping by 10am, sometimes for upto 3 hours. I work again 3-6pm and am then in bed by 9.30, exhausted usually. I am feeling quite miserable at how fatigued I feel and my lack of ability to do much else. Don't get me wrong, I am generally staying on top of housework etc but do not want to keep feeling this way. I was aware I would get fatigued, yes, and that it may last long term, or it may not. I was also told it probably would have peaked by now and I should start feeling better, instead I'm feeling more tired.
I was off work after surgeries etc (mastectomy and reconstruction followed by lymph node clearance and RT x15) for five months, only been back since the beginning of Jan, so I guess I am adjusting to my old routine.
Wondering if you have felt similarly or been prescribed anything for fatigue? Thank you.
Hi Bondgirl . I'm not from this group but noticed your post and can relate to it. I had six weeks of daily radiotherapy for my own cancer which left me wiped out. I could not work as I had no energy at all. People think fatigue is like a hard day at work but it is more than that, your energy drains away. Saying that, it did gradually get better after about 3/4 months. My GP prescribed some steroids which helped slightly. I hope you pick up soon. Best wishes.
