Hello everyone,
My lovely friend has just finished her second round of chemo. She explained that even though she'd used a cool cap her hair was coming out in clumps and she's now considering a wig. She said she wanted to get a good one but they seem to be really expensive, about £2000!!!
She has never worn a wig before and she's worried about making such a big investment if its not going to be comfortable to wear. However she also has three small children and she wants to keep looking like mummy for them.
We discussed a couple of options that neither of us knew the answer to and I wondered if anyone can share their experience so we can build on our research?
1. Can you hire a wig to try it out?
2. Has anyone tried a second hand wig that had been donated? If so what was your experience?
3. (this one is secret) I was thinking maybe I could raise some money for her to put towards a wig but she hasn't told everyone about her cancer because she doesn't want the attention. I'm not sure how I could raise money for a wig for her in secret. Anyone else successfully raised money for a wig?
4. If she decides not to get a wig what is the most comfortable thing to wear on your head when your skin is so sensitive?
If anyone else has any other suggestions please do send them this way. All experience is welcome.
