Hello everyone
I am a 39 years old mum of a 3,5 year old and an 11 month old. I found a tiny lump a few weeks ago and immediately told my GP. Turned out to be cancer with a tiny amount in my underarm lymph too. I am not triple negative and am estrogen positive so I’m now looking at chemo, surgery, radiotherapy and several years of hormone therapy.
has anyone been through or is going through a similar experience?
thanks so much
Fantastic news! Well done. I was taking it very easy for the first week, once my drain was off I was more confident. The worst was sleeping in one position, only started to sleep on my healthy side 3 weeks after OPP. Apart from that hated my hairy armpit for 2 weeks I m very happy how it healed and to be honest the scarring is fine, I was worried I will be deformed. Applying lots of vit e cream and being super good with exercises. Feels like my arm needs a good stretch, I m getting there but I need to push through a bit of discomfort. X
Hi, just jumping on this thread if that’s ok. I got diagnosed 15th September. Had lumpectomy on 2nd November to remove a small lump and sentinel node biopsy. Got results yesterday and floored as they have said the margins aren’t clear as show all pre cancerous cells and the sentinel node was positive too. I’m so scared and angry today and feel like anyone I speak to who has got through breast cancer didn’t have it in lymph nodes so feels like it’s so much worse. Plan is now to do a mastectomy mid January and remove lymph nodes. I’m paranoid it’s a long wait if it’s already in lymph nodes. Is that a normal time to wait? Should I try and go private? I’m just so lost with it all.
Hi. Sorry to hear about your journey so far. Do you know what type of tumour you have been diagnosed with!? Some of them are slow growing so my understanding would be that few weeks won't make much difference to the growth before your next surgery. Are you getting chemo at all!? I had neoadjuvent treatment before my OPP which killed cancer however I had it in 3 nodes so my team suggested to clear axillary just in case, luckily only the 3 nodes we knew about were affected and the rest was clear. Why don't you get another opinion for piece of mind. X
Hi
just read your message - I’m very happy to chat xx
Hi. Its awful waiting but dont think the worst. I had full lymph node clearance when I had my mastectomy. 8 out of 14 were positive. However my scans showed it hadnt gone anywhere else. I then had chemo and radiotherapy and now on hormone treatment. Youve got this. Stay positive. I was 46 last year when I was diagnosed. Any questions just shout. I will guide you any way you can.
The tumour was 17mm and grade 3.
yes they’ve said after mastectomy and axillary clearance they’ll do chemo. It’s just hard all the waiting round isn’t it. Do you mean get another opinion privately? X
Thank you. I just feel like no one else around me can help at the moment unless they’ve lived it. I have just lurked since September but now think I need the positive energy of you ladies on here who have gone/going through it. X
That’s good to know. I’m 40 so really hoping it’s the same that it hasn’t travelled elsewhere. I think this close to Christmas/New Year I just feel so down about it knowing I’m going into the new year needing bigger surgery when I felt like I was just getting over the lumpectomy x
I know exactly how yiu feel. I was diagnised 1st Dec 2020 and went into surgery 6 Jan 2021. Its that awful time of year when you are supposed to be so happy and grateful! You will feel much better after your op knowing thats its gone once and for all and chemo really isnt too bad! Try and relax a little before Xmas as you will probably hit the ground runnibg in the New Year. Good luck. If you have any questions just shout xx
Thank you. I have two children who turn 7&5 Christmas week too, it’s just such bad timing! I’m taking your positivity though.
So you had your op during the second lockdown…that must have been tough. Covid is really adding an extra layer of rubbish! I feel better knowing your lymph nodes weren’t all positive. Gives me hope mine will be the same. X
