I just wanted to say hello to you all. I’m waiting for mastectomy in January, going for reconstruction ( probably an implant, but still not very sure). Still in shock after the diagnose and trying to come to terms with it all. I’m 43, based in London. Happy to connect with others:)
Hi Wendy, that's very kind of you.
I hope you're not feeling too bad at the moment to enjoy at least some of the xmas time.
All the best with the treat.ent and happy New Year!
Anna
Thank you for the link I’m trying to find my way around - I’ll give the link a click just had my second EC this morning x
Hi i have had my second EC today !
I still trying to work out how to use this forum lol . I have just found the notifications from when i posted. Thank you for your help x
Hello, I’m 39 and recently got diagnosed.
I am also having my mastectomy in January. Booked for 11th. I work in London but live in Essex.
also massive shock. I have 5 children - twins that are 3, a 14 yr old girl and two step children. One lives with us and one doesn’t. They are 17 and 20.
I have decided to go with Tug reconstruction as I don’t want implants in.
I am going to a support group on 2 January to meet other people with similar experiences, scars and of similar age. My surgeon recommended it so may help. If you are being treated at same hospital I’m sure you can come along. You might be able to anyway if I asked.
had my sentinel node biopsy today and the general has made me really sick so sorry if some of my post doesn’t make sense! I’m still a little out of it.
love Liz x
Hi Liz,
My sentinel biopsy is going to be done on the day of the operation. I’m in a mess today as I was told my operation may be delayed by another two weeks... Still fighting for the original date as I really do not want to wait any longer and have everything organised and prepared.
went to look for the post operation bras today, didn’t particularly liked them but bought one. Will go to a larger store tomorrow.
May I ask where the support group takes place?
Xx
Oh that’s dreadful. Can they delay it like that. I would be a mess too. You get yourself ready and then it’s moved. I really feel for you.
yes I don’t know if we can name hospitals on here so it might blank it out I know the cancer research one does.
it’s at the Nuffield in Brentwood. Xx
Also how did you know what size to go for in the bras?
Mine will be a lot smaller than they are now and because I don’t have much fat in my thighs I’m probably going to end up a size A from a G!! xx
Still hoping to go next Monday:)
Will look for some more local support groups. Not sure if I'm ready to discus/look at the scares yet.
Hope you get a good sleep toniggtx
I was told they do really good, symmetrical job with the flap reconstruction so you'll be probably fine.
I was told to get two non wired, front opening sport kind of bra sin my current cup size but bigger underneath (from 34 to 36) to cater for the swelling. May be completely different with your procedure!
Hi!
I will be 43 tomorrow and was diagnosed initially with a 16mm grade 2 ER+ lump on 2nd December but after MRI and Ultrasound now need Mastectomy so going in next Thursday 30th. I'm hoping for a temporary tissue expander to allow me to keep the skin and reconstruct after chemo. It was a massive shock for me too as I'd gone with a lump found following a fall that they were sure was just fat necrosis.
Big hugs
