hi I’m 44 recently diagnosed with Breast cancer , all started with a discharge from nipple went to gp gave me antibiotic and it cleared up but she said she would send me for mammogram just to be sure. Had mammogram was called back following week for ultrasound and had biopsies then following week dr confirmed it . Said it’s in the ducts but had nothing to do with discharge it’s also in my lymph nodes . Just had ct and bone scan and have to go for MRI . Am totally freaked every ache and pain I keep thinking it’s spread I’ve 4 kids  17-11 and am so worried for them and my husband .

  • Hi ,

Glad your heart scan was ok. I wouldn’t worry, maybe it’s because everyone’s case is different or it’s just miscommunication.

I recently got a letter from my gp that the oncologist had sent him, I had already received a copy from the oncologist but anyway that had all my information on.

Letter was dated February so maybe it just takes time. I didn’t get a percentage and tbh I’m surprised an oncologist would do that.

If you want the grade (my breast care nurse told us they don’t do a stage) I would phone your gp and see if your oncologist has sent a letter and ask for a copy.

Hope all goes well on Wednesday,

    Hugs Tina x

    Hiya

My oncologist never told me the stage, grade or percentages of my cancer either, until i asked what stage it was, he then rolled his eyes at me and i said "Don't you want to tell me" he said he was always reluctant to tell people the stage their cancer is as they go home and google it and end up scaring themselves.

He told me i was grade 2/3 and explained what that meat. My philosophy is "Don't worry about something you might not need to worry about" Next time you see him ask, i'm sure he'll tell you. Maybe your friend asked.

Don't worry about ranting, better out than in :O)

Good Luck with the chemo on Friday, i will tell you the waiting for it is actually worse than having it done. I remember having my first and leaving thinking, was that it x

    Hi everyone,

again sorry haven’t been on in a while . Well I started my first chemo last Friday week , got v emotional in the treatment room . Felt grand then after nurse calmed me down. Treatment was fine and went home . Wasn’t well that weekend the nausea was a killer . Anyway this week feeling much better and was back at hospital for blood tests which are all good so ready for next AC this Friday.

I’m a bit freaked as they told me after this one my hair will fall out . I don’t know if I want to have it shaved off or not ?? I’m v emotional this week over a few things met with radiation oncologCryt just to touch base it was the first time I heard my tumor was 4cm/4mm can’t remember which ! They told me where I would be having radiation and how long for.

The last couple of days my boob is annoying me sort of like a stitch pain , not bad that I would need to take painkillers for it and it’s not there all the time . Could this be a side effect from chemo??

Sorry just a bit down the last few days ( got my period aswell 3 weeks late so don’t know if that’s another reason for my bad days ) !!

    Talk soon xxxxxxxx

Hi this is all very emotional and i find it tends to creep up on you and hits you when you least expect it. You have had your first chemo now so you know what to expect next time. I found the first week after chemo i felt shocking, second week a bit better and third week felt well ready for it to start again.

My hair started falling out 13 days after my second treatment, its difficult i had long hair before all this and mine started falling out while we were on holiday, although it started falling out it didn't really become noticeable until the day after my third treatment. My advice would be the have it cut a bit shorter for now. Have you thought about getting a wig? You may be able to get a voucher from the hospital which will go towards one. I didn't want a wig until i saw some of the ladies on here with theirs on. There is a post called Our Wonderful Wigs have a look see what you think. I also bought some scarves but i found with them people look at you. Funnily enough i had more people tell me how much they loved my hair when i had my wig on than they ever have with my own hair.

I also hung onto my hair for as long as i could, i only had hair at the back so had to cover it when i went out anyway, so should have shaved it then. But instead i had a week of being a cow to everyone. I would say don't put off the inevitable, once it had gone i felt somewhat relieved.

If you are concerned about the pain in your boob maybe ring your breast nurse and ask her what it could be, but i'm sure i have read on here people saying they have had the same, maybe its the chemo doing its stuff.

My periods eventually stopped while i was having chemo and i haven't had one since, one bonus i guess.

But remember it is ok to feel a bit poopy sometimes, we all do. Just don't let it take over. Come talk to us get it off your chest, pull up your big girl knickers and show this cancer who's boss.

    Take Care xx
