Hello i am hoping that everyone is doing ok.

I was wondering is it a routine thing to do a biopsy of the lymph nodes under the arm that has the breast tumour in or would this only be done if something looked suspicious on the ultrasound?

  • Hi

I'm sorry I don't know the answer to your question but I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet.

I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post this question in the main breast cancer group, which I can see you're a member of, as it's 'busier' than this one and I'm sure there'll be someone there who can help you.

Hi, even if the scan shows that your lymph nodes are clear they do a biopsy on the day of the operation to make sure that there's no cancer cells under the microscope. They will also do a lymph node biopsy on me during my lumpectomy. X

  • Yes that is good they hve to do that to check everything, thankyou xx

Hi. I had a cancerous cyst removed in December ( at the time they still weren’t sure what it was )  and then lymph node biopsy once I got a diagnosis. For me it was just to see if it had spread anywhere ( which thank god it hasn’t ) but this is just my experience of having it done . Hope this is of some help x
