I'm having a single mastectomy and reconstruction via silicon implant very soon. I'm wondering how i will feel, a body part missing, a new alien part.... will it ever feel like part of me? I'm sure these are common worries and is all part of the unknown I'm facing. My 'unknown' list is getting longer....
Thank you for your thoughts.
Hi Bondgirl welcome to the forum.. I didn't have a Mastectomy but can relate to an alien boob as mine is somewhat misshapen. I'm.thinking that as you are having reconstruction at the same time you may be unaware of too much body change to start with as opposed to not having a reconstruction if that makes sense? I can completely understand why your "my unknown" list is fairly filled up.and so many different things could potentially influence how you feel at changed body image, only time will tell. I do wish you well for your ongoing surgery and hope that it all works out positively for you. Best wishes Gail x
