Hi, is anyone listed with Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham? They let me have a meeting in December with a plastic surgeon to go on the waiting list for diep surgery. But I have not heard anythg since, apart from my oncologist stating that it was unlikely I would get it this year. I had my single mastectomy March last year (2020). I'm only 31 and struggling. I feel left out and not knowinwhat's going on. Anyone else heard info on their recon? Thanks
Hi
I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling after having your mastectomy a year ago and that you haven't heard anything more about your proposed DIEP surgery since seeing a plastic surgeon a couple of months ago.
I haven't been in your position but have you spoken to your BCNS to see if she can find out when you are scheduled for surgery or how long the wait is likely to be? They are usually a font of information and can find this sort of information out for you.
Let us know how you get on when you speak to her.

Hi, I emailed her and got a response. She said she would ensure I will get my CT scan so I'm ready when I'm next in queue, but told me to email her again in April as they have not restarted any of the reconstruction surgeries yet
I'm going to assume that it will be another year or so until it's done. I just want to go back to normal and forget I ever had cancer.
