TNBC treatment with no chemo..

My sister is 29 and has the BRCA1 gene. She has just been diagnosed with stage 1 grade 3 triple negative breast cancer. My mum has had stage 3 grade 3 triple negative twice (and is still here) so I know how brutal this cancer type is!

Due to previous health issues, her doctors do not believe she is strong enough for chemotherapy. They are recommended a bilateral mastectomy and node removal and then, essentially, seeing what happens after that. They have spoken about targeted therapies but want to do this a step at a time.

I would love to know if anyone has, or knows anyone who has, been treated successfully for this type of cancer without chemotherapy.

  • Hi Hevvsimp

I am sorry that you have not yet had a response to your post but sometimes it can take a few days for someone with a similar experience to see it and respond.

I am sorry to hear of your sister's cancer and also of your mum's previous cancer.

I can understand that it is a worry that she has been told that she is not strong enough for chemo but it does sound promising that they are suggesting an alternative plan and that they wish to review this to see her next steps.

This info has some of the other potential treatments that she may be offered.

Hopefully someone who has been successfully treated without chemo will see your post and will respond.

In the meantime, do give the Support Line a call, if talking things through would help.

I wish your sister well with her treatment.

    Jane
