Hi all,
I was diagnosed with an ovarian cancer in Jan ‘22 (age 48),undergone total hysterectomy followed by chemo. I have both breast cancer and ovarian cancer in my family (from father’s side). My body reacted well to chemo and my CA125 is currently 9. My oncologist is proposing I go on a maintenance treatment (Olaparib). I have some concerns re the side effects & associated risks. I have seen a couple of posts on people’s experience with this drug, but would be grateful if anyone could share more of their experiences if possible.
Thanks in advance, Michaela
Hi Michaela,
You may have already seen posts from me talking about Olaparib as I've been taking it since the end of April after having breast cancer with BRCA1 mutation. If I can help in any way or you have any specific questions feel free to let me know! I take 4 tablets two times a day - as far as side effects go, blood results show that my immune system is low and my kidney function is slightly decreased, but until now I haven't picked up any illnesses and I feel very well in myself and just like 'normal'. I felt rough for 1 week when I first started taking it, but that quickly subsided. Best of luck with your decision x
Hi Rose, thank you so much for your message, it’s useful to know about your experience with Olaparib thus far. If you’re open to it, I would love to connect with you for a virtual coffee. I have sent you a friendship request - look forward to hearing back. Michaela x
