I am 35 and diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative stage 3 cancer. I had genetic testing back in May and it came back with a VUS of BRACA 2. This is a variant of unknown significance. I am just wondering if anyone else has received the same results? I have been told that I shouldn’t concern myself with the the result as it’s not a categorised gene mutation but it’s not a negative result either so am struggling to get my head around it all.
Hi Nataan01 welcome to the forum.
I havent heard of this before and I wonder if the best thing to advise is to make contact with Macmillan who have specialist advisors that you can speak with and who have medical knowledge. This is one of those questions I think that requires an expert answer.
Contact Number is 08088080000.
Hope you get some answers to your query. xxxxxx
Hi,
I just had my genetic counselling session yesterday, and started the long wait for results. I was told there are 3 possible results, positive, negative and VUS.
She explained that VUS means there is a gene variation, but they dont have the information/data on the variation to know whether it is significant or not, or to what effect.
Hope all goes well with your treatment x
