My husband - Chris - died on the 2nd May 2009 because he had anal cancer. He knew he was going and we spoke about lots and lots of things before he died. That is why I am just not prepared for the huge amount of guilt I feel now. I feel guilty that the world hasn't stopped turning round even though he has died. I feel like everything should stop as a mark of respect. I also feel very guilty that he had to be so ill he had to die. What a cruel cruel thing it is to make someone so ill their body just stops working. I wasn't ready for him to go. I really really hope these are normal feelings because I must hang on to my sanity for the sake of my 3 children. I have never known sadness like I feel right now. I can't believe that I will not hear his voice or feel his touch again. We were married for almost 32 years and I have known Chris for 34 years - since I was 16. What happens now? Ailsa

Hi Dot and Sue. I love making cards Dot. I'm not sure how good they are but friends and family seem to appreciate them. I find it theraputic as well. I started doing it to encourage my creative side as I am far more practical than creative. Chris was the creative one. I'm not sure it is improving my creativity rather than encouraging my picky attention to detail!! I don't have what sounds like a fun job like some others here. There are a few working with small children which must be very rewarding. I am an Industrial Engineer! I do figures and numbers liberally. I love them but they can never be creative. The cards and the sewing etc help to redress the balance I hope.
You will know when it is time to go back to work Sue. You are right to be concerned about the tiredness because it gets me regularly. See how you feel when the new term starts. I'm sure the children are missing you. The main thing working does for me is give me a routine. Take care. Ailsa xx

    Evening everyone xxx

    Gorgeous pic Gayle, cool dudes!!

Lynne I`ve e mailed the council about my ticket so just waiting for a reply.

Sue the children definitely keep me busy but I had forgotten how tiring they were until I had the time off after Paul`s death and then went back!!! Lots of early nights!!! Are you thinking of going back soon?

Ailsa you`re hooked!!! sneaking on here in your break lol!!!

I`ve had a nice day with friends but son is panicking as I went to pick his season ticket up from friends house (Paul and Liam buy a friends ticket as he can`t go to the game with his work hours) and Liam`s ticket hasn`t arrived, the others are there and all the receipt etc is there but no card for Liam to get into the game!! I know Paul will be looking down going mad as friends wife should have checked the envelopes when they arrived last week but she didn`t!! The 1st home game is tomorrow night so I`ll have to ring in the morning. Keep everything crossed.

    Dear Ailsa

I'm sure your cards are lovely and everyone appreciates the thought, time and effort put into making them rather than popping into a shop to buy one!!!! I've had some good and some not so good...I enjoy trying new techniques and designs....I buy loads of magazines for inspiration and then make my own versions!!! Much more fun........... I take orders for cards too and the money I make goes to a well-known cancer support charity!!!

I also work with children - but after school - and find that my crafting skills are useful there......... We often have card-making sessions - which they enjoy especially when they can have some one to one attention!!!! But if you enjoy your work that is what counts....whatever you do.......... There are times when I wish I'd been brave enough to do something other than clerical work when I left school. But I did spend time in the Army doing something completely different - that's how I met my hubby...........he always brags that he married a soldier!!!!!

That's funny Dot - I married a soldier as well so I know how your husband feels - proud. I grew up with the army - my Dad was in the army and that is how I met Chris. They were both posted to Germany.
Good evening Helen - I have my fingers crossed for Liam's ticket. I know it was bad coming on here while I was at work but I was just so down so I convinced myself they wouldn't mind. I won't do it again as we have quite a strict policy!!
Right - I'm off for a bath shortly, to help me sleep. Ailsa xx

    Hi Everyone,
Just catching up with all the post. Gayle what beautiful son's you have, and glad you enjoyed your holidays. I also make baby cards for the shop it's a good pass time. but i like my knitting as well. Weather been bad here last few days very wet. I had to go to dentist today a filling had came loose, so got it sorted. I have not been feeling that great the last few days and it worries me a bit being in the house myself. I am still not sleeping well and think i saw every hour on the clock last night so try and go earlier tonight. Hope everyone ok.
    Take Care

    Dear All,
I posted this on a different thred, and Susan MW has kindly suggested speaking to you guys.

This is my first post on this forum, I have posted on others during my lovely Dads illness.
My Dad passed away on the 3rd August after being ill for 9 weeks and 1 day. He was diagnosed with a grade 4 Brain Tumour on about 5 weeks before he passed.
His funeral was on Monday and even though it was very sad, it was a very fitting tribute and there were so many people attending they couldn't fit in the chapel. I thought I was dealing with everything ok, until today when I returned to work and I just feel like there is a black cloud and am very teary, is this a normal way to feel. I am beginning to think I need some more time off from work but not sure if that would be the best thing to do?
I am really sorry to have to ask advice on this hard subject.

    Thanks

    Clairex
