My husband died in my arms on the 2nd May (2009) - what happens now?

My husband - Chris - died on the 2nd May 2009 because he had anal cancer. He knew he was going and we spoke about lots and lots of things before he died. That is why I am just not prepared for the huge amount of guilt I feel now. I feel guilty that the world hasn't stopped turning round even though he has died. I feel like everything should stop as a mark of respect. I also feel very guilty that he had to be so ill he had to die. What a cruel cruel thing it is to make someone so ill their body just stops working. I wasn't ready for him to go. I really really hope these are normal feelings because I must hang on to my sanity for the sake of my 3 children. I have never known sadness like I feel right now. I can't believe that I will not hear his voice or feel his touch again. We were married for almost 32 years and I have known Chris for 34 years - since I was 16. What happens now? Ailsa

Good morning everyone. I'm sorry you have had such a tough week Fiona. Remember to come on here looking for us if you need a chat.

So sorry I missed the party last night. I have had such a giggle reading it all this morning. Unfortunately for me I was on the motorway on my way back up north while all the fun was going on. Got home about 11:30pm and was a bit hyper after the drive so did all my unpacking. Didn't go to bed until 1am. We will have to make it a BBQ at mine next time we feel in a party mood. I saw a mention of facebook and live messenger when I was catching up - I am on both (greedy!) if it makes any difference sometimes. Can't believe the change in the weather today - I got burned in my sisters garden yesterday, I am more likely to drown today. Best get back to the ironing. Have a good Sunday everyone. Ailsa xx

    hi, Helen
very impressed with your day so far - would you like some more ironing? When the weather was nice this week I washed anything that didn't move; regretting it now as it all needs ironing!!

Hi everyone. Believe it or not I was daft enough to wash curtains! Ironed round one this morning but now I need to tackle round two! Why do I do it? I hate ironing as well. That said - I am on my holidays so maybe a small glass is permissable and will make ironing seem less of a chore. I was driving last night so I missed a Saturday night treat. I am going to Meadowhall tomorrow with an 8 year old! Take care everyone. Ailsa xx

    Morning everyone xxx

Getting used to being off and not setting the alarm!!!

Ailsa hope you got your curtains back up, seems a good idea at first doesn`t it?? Have a good day today, what`s Meadowhall?

Daughter is back tonight, she texted yesterday, she`s having a great time. I`ve survived the weekend without her, son has been around more than usual, went shopping with him yesterday for a few bits. Not sure if he`s been around on purpose with Nat being away or pure fluke but it`s been nice xxx

I`m meeting up with a friend for a few drinks this afternoon, she used to be the landlady of our local and her and Paul did `Monday club` where they would meet for a few drinks and a chat while I was at work. He used to look forward to it even though he wasn`t drinking and quite poorly towards the end but it got him out and he would make himself go. I`ve met her once since Paul died so going again to keep his `Monday club` going this afternoon. Might not make it on here this evening after a few drinks!!!!

    Hope everyone else is ok

    Morning Kaz

I know I needed to get back to work once the funeral and all arrangements were over. It wasn`t doing me any favours sitting round the house thinking. Was getting really down. I was tired when I went back but it has made me appreciate the holidays so much more.

Think of any bits you need to sort before you go back then you don`t have to worry
