So, yesterday I started to properly get into looking after my granddaughters. I had to be at my son's house for 7a.m. yesterday morning to let him leave for work. He had sick leave from work the last couple of weeks as he needed a minor operation to his back to remove a cyst (not cancer) this was one of those cysts that form and constantly fill up and not to get too graphic ocassionally burst and produce puss and could become infected etc. He had had this for a few years and just had to keep getting occasional courses of antibiotics and put on a list for surgery and then finally the NHS were able to take him in and cut it out so his scar needed time to heal. He went back to work yesterday on light duties as he feels well enough to return to work but not do heavy lifting or anything. My daughter in law starts work at 5 in the morning so it is a shock to the system for me going out at 6.30a.m. So i'll be doing this on Fridays and Mondays for the next 3 weeks as my son has just been put on constant day shift he works a shift rotation of back, night and day shift so some weeks it will just be a Monday and other weeks a Friday and one week both but for now as he is recovering his boss has put him on constant dayshift. It felt good doing that yesterday I was tired as not being used to being out at that time in the morning but it felt good and am looking forward to it on Friday again. My daughter in law is back doing 3 shifts Friday, Saturday and Monday and my son is there at the weekends. My oldest granddaughter goes to the breakfast club at school for the two mornings my daughter in law works and one of her little friend's mum comes to collect her for that. My sister will come and stay over with me to look after my little dog as I feel its too long for me to be away for him to be walked etc so she does that for me so it's a `team effort.` Just feels good to be of use again. My youngest little granddaughter is still a bit wary of me but she hasn't seen a lot of me so hopefully that will change. She slept most of the morning yesterday until her mum came home so that was `easy peasy`. I just hope Jay is up there looking down and approving that I am still living for the family as he wanted me to.
Vicky xx
