Andrew b,
You/we/I 'just' need to be how we need to be. Family will know and can't expect great things from us.
I've taken the alternative decision and am staying away from everyone. Family and friends have all offered and I have said the same to all - no.
I'm doing what I need to do and that is be on my own. Whether I'm at home, or go for a drive or walk, will depend on how I feel at the time.
I think we need to try and not be too hard on ourselves whatever the day brings.
Take care,
WDJ
