My mum passed away a week ago today. We are devastated. I am getting through the days but it’s a struggle.
I don’t know how my dad is getting through the day. Today he has slept all day. Is this a sign of grief? Is there anything I can do to help him?
Hi Lilod85985
Thinking of you at this difficult time. Many people find the days/weeks after any death to be quite busy and if we look at What to do after someone dies it is not to difficult to understand why. If you can help your dad with some of this I am sure he would appreciate it.
I actually learnt quite a lot about my parents through their funerals - lots of stuff from their early life that helped to make me realise more of how much they had acheived. At a friends funeral recently the celebrant said that "grief is the price we pay for love" and that really struck a chord with me.
As for sleeping all day, perhaps it was just he was spending lots of extra energy to spend time with your mum and is now playing catch up. Grief is of course a very individual thing.
<<hugs>>
