Hi, I lost my darling husband just over 2 weeks ago. I still can’t believe he’s gone. He was admitted to hospital with what we thought was an infection and that hopefully he would get home within a week. While he was in, we found out that his chemo had stopped working, he had only had just over 4 months of it. We were still hopeful that an alternative drug would be successful but unfortunately that was not to be. Within a week he was told he was in end of life care. To say we were shocked was an understatement. He was told that he had weeks/short months left. A week later he was gone. I just can’t understand how things went downhill so quickly and he was in emotional turmoil before he became unconscious. I know he felt cheated and so do I. I just don’t know how I will ever get over this.

My deepest condolences to you on the loss of your darling husband, as I read your post I can feel the absolute disbelief and bewilderment you must be going through (hug)). With any cancer, the changes can occur so very quickly and we are not always given the opportunity to come to terms with what we are experiencing before the next wave of sadness or distress reaches us, for you and your husband, those changes happened, unexpectedly and way too fast, and I am sorry that you have had to experience that.
I do hope you have support around you, and although there are never really any words that can comfort you at this time, I want you to know that there are many different forums on this site, some especially linked to similar experiences to your own, like This One where others who have lost their life partner meet,
