My Dad was diagnosed with primary liver cancer formally in March this year but told there was something sinister on a scan in January. It has been particularly tough because of poor communication between teams early on. He was offered Targeted therapy which he suffered bad side effects. He managed to get to a stage where things were a bit more stable so tried again. It made him acutely unwell and hospitalised. He deteriorated quickly and we got him home and recently he had hospice at home. He had 4 weeks at home. I live in North East and he's in Wales. We all managed to get down to see him last week as a family and I believe he had a death surge and was brighter and we all spent time with him. We travelled home last week and I was planning to come down again end of week. I had call to come sooner. He deteriorated significantly. He brightened ever so slightly to know I'd arrived. After that he slowly changed. Me, my mum and brother were with him at the end. I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else but it was peaceful, harrowing and painful to watch for me but he knew we were there. I feel lost and drained. Life has changed massively in 7 months.
I just needed to get this off my chest. I know it's going to be hard and will take time but right now I'm just hurting so much.
