I lost my Dad to bowel cancer in 2020 and mum to fronto-temporal dementia in 2022. I've had bereavement counselling which helped, however I don't know anyone under 40 who has lost both parents so really understands.
I had my first baby 3 months after Dad passed and our second child less than a year after Mum passed. They are such a wonderful gift but also make the loss so much harder.
Although time marches on I still can't believe they're both gone, I miss them so much and I struggle to accept the beautiful grandparent relationships they and my daughter's are missing out on. It's like a stab to my heart when I meet or see grandparents with young children, or people older than me talking about their parents who are still here.
My husband though supportive does not understand as his parents are still here (which is wonderful).
Is anyone else in a similar situation?
