It's exactly 12 months since my Dad's pancreatic cancer returned and went into hospital never to return home again. He got two years with it. Diagnosed in March 2020 and made it through chemo and radiotherapy. Successful whipple procedure in Jan 2021 and was told he has 10 years as the histology was so good. He battle with anxiety and depression post op and after six months started to get his life back. Then last Oct 2021 he was told the devastating news that the cancer had returned. I didn't know then that the recurrence rate with this cancer was so high. He had a tough five months in hospital with recurrent infections and unsuccessful stenting of his bile duct. We got Christmas and he was relatively stable over that period. At the end of Feb 2022 he got Covid 19 and an abscess on his liver took over. He died on the 8th of March. Still can't believe it! The grief is hard sometimes and hearing the word christmas brought me to tears today. The loss can be overwhelming at times.
