Hi all,

I wonder if anyone could help point me in the right direction. My father died 9 weeks ago from pancreatic cancer having lived with it since December 2018. In March, we were told the dreaded news that, the cancer had grown and that, my father had a matter of months, up to 6 months. However, 2.5 weeks later my dad died. I haven't had any follow up support from Christies or the palliative care team or anything like that. I am looking to join a bereavement group. I visited the Maggies in Manchester and have been put on a waiting list for their bereavement group which, I've been told I have to wait 3 months before attending bereavement counselling groups.

I don't really know where to look or who to even speak to l about this. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Saiqa

  • Hi Saiqa and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

I'm really sorry to read that you lost your dad to pancreatic cancer recently and that you're unable to access bereavement counselling at the moment.

As you know, the online community is divided up into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you join and post in the bereaved family and friends group which is for anyone who has lost a family member or friend to cancer to share their feelings and support one another.

To join just click on the link I've created and then join and post in the same way as you did here. You can also join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.
