It’s coming up to a year since my mums death. I’ve been thinking that I need to speak with someone and thought maybe counselling. I’ve got all this anger and hurt and feel that I can’t talk about what happened to my Mum. If I mention mum in conversation I get looks of pity and sympathetic, which is exactly what I don’t want. No ones ever thought that maybe I want to talk about her and what happened during the end of her life. I know it’s probably for fear of upsetting me, but I’ve reached that point where I need to speak to someone about it now. I haven’t got a clue how to go about bereavement counselling. I’ve looked online and I can’t afford the £40-£50 per session. Has anyone had bereavement counselling, if so, how did you go about it and what do I need to do?

  • Hi Boult30 welcome to the forum and I am so very sorry to hear about how you are feeling but really glad that you have reached out and also aware that you dont feel that you have grieved properly and need to talk and thats good and healthy as well.

I dont know enough about the Counselling that you are looking for but I know people who might.

Can you give the Macmillan Line a  call and they will have knowledge of bereavement services in and around your local area and some which may be available at a rather more affordable cost but always worth finding out. They are contactable on 08088080000 8am-8pm everyday.

Hope that you get fixed up with some help local to you and sending some huge big hugs your way for now.xxxxx

  • Have you looked into Cruse bereavement counselling? The waiting list isn't great but always worth having a look/getting on the list if there's a local service to you x

    Love and Hugs x
