Hi I am very new to this. Both my parents are now experiencing cancer. Dad unfortunately had kidney cancer which had spread to his spine operated on and 11 months clear it has now returned in the spine which we knew would have been difficult to remove even with chemo and radio it has returned sadly. Now my mum is on her 3rd chemo session for breast cancer and seems to be doing well. I'm there as a carer and to help out but times can be very tough! Wondering if anyone else has been in this situation. Oh yea and I'm also trying to plan my wedding! Crazy times.. I wouldn't be anywhere else in the world right now but beside them and helping them through their journey..

  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

It sounds like a very difficult time for you and your parents with both your mum and dad having cancer. Like your mum, I was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year and have now finished chemotherapy with just 2 weeks of radiotherapy to go before my treatment is finished. Breast cancer is very treatable these days so hopefully your mum will respond well.

I can see that you have joined the carers only group, so I hope you don't mind me suggesting that you also post there so that you connect with other carers.

When you have a minute, it would be great if you could pop something about your parent's diagnoses and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
