Hello everyone. This is the first time I have posted on this group. My loving wife Lynn and love of my life passed away in February this year. So for quite some time I have been lost like a ship drifting in an ocean. However this all changed in July when I took in a rescue ex racing greyhound. What a truly amazing dog she is, so affectionate and cuddly I adore her. The truth is she has rescued me. How has your pet helped you?
Hi
Sorry no one else has replied. There have been plenty of articles about how animals have helped people over lockdown, and I am sure many on this site have appreciated their animals immensely as a source of company and support. Greyhounds make great pets, I have had two resuce greyhounds over the years - such lazy and affectionate animals, very unlike most people believe. The sofa can be hard to sit on when you have a greyhound who wants it all to themselves, and when you have two, well there is definitely no room for humans. I am glad yours has been a source of such support after your wife died. Long may it continue.
Hi Jebel,
I am caring for my gorgeous hubby of 19 years who is now very sick with incurable advanced stomach cancer. He was diagnosed xmas Eve last year and we’ve been at home together pretty much since then. He can’t really do anything now so I am working full time from home, looking after him and keeping the house going.
I have a 12 year old bundle of fur who thinks she is still a puppy and is my life saver. She is always happy and gets me out to the park every day. As my husband doesn’t engage much now I even chat to my dog. You are so right about our pets. She is keeping me going x
Hi bramblejoo,
I can see you are a very caring person and are taking very good care of your husband. I too was nursing my wife earlier this year and can fully understand everything we do for our spouses and partners, it’s something we do as we love them so much.
Our dogs do lift our spirits, mine always make me smile.
Take care.

Can’t help but smile at that little face x
Hello Jebel, I’m so sorry for your loss and very glad you have found a precious four legged friend to ease your way. When my husband was given his diagnosis years ago things looked so bleak and our wonderful Bernese was my sponge - on our long walks she used to let me hug her and have a good cry and I would pour out my feelings, when I gathered myself together she would look at me to check I was ok and then run off ahead of me. She has now gone and, against the odds, my husband has made a full recovery, I will love her forever and I’ll never forget how she took care of me just when I needed her to. Enjoy your lovely girl, you’re lucky to have found each other.
