Reflections On What I Have Learned From My Time As A Carer

In my previous blog posts, I have told you about the time when my man was sick, our journey through this very difficult time and the end of his life. In this blog post, I would like to tell you what I feel I have learned from the time when I cared for him. My hope is that some of the things I am going to write will help some of you who are still in the role of a carer and make some things a little easier for you. But, before I tell you what I have learned, I want to emphasise that I am not medically...

  • My Top Tips for surviving FEC-T chemotherapy for Stage 3 Breast Cancer
My Top Tips for surviving FEC-T chemotherapy for Stage 3 Breast Cancer (Part 2)

So, I've been thinking back over the last 8 months of 2019 and needed to jot some of my thoughts down before I forget what happened!

Here are some more top tips that have really helped me through chemotherapy over the last 4 and a half months.

    1. MOUTH - I stopped using conventional toothpastes very early on, several weeks before I started chemotherapy. The first 3 courses of FEC and I developed a few ulcers on my tongue for a week or so after chemo.
I did try a little ordinary toothpaste I had...

    Marie - October 2019

    Hello lovely peeps!

  • HPV16 Tonsil cancer - by blog about finding, treating and curing (?) it!
    Finding it Part 3

So I was expecting to have a tonsillectomy to get rid of my swollen and lumpy tonsil. It didn't quite turn out as simple as expected. The surgeon straight away said " we might not remove it as we need know what it is first" . So I went under anaesthetic really not knowing what was going to happen.

The operation went to plan - whatever the plan was - and I woke up without a tonsil. I didn't have a huge amount of pain immediately afterwards and even managed an NHS sandwich that evening...
