The Three C’s
After the tests and the biopsies
I have been told I have the big C
Now I have three C’s in my life
Cancer Corona and Chemotherapy
Each visit to oncologist becomes fraught with fear
As I have to mask up and be careful when there
The routine is getting familiar now
Back home through the door strip off and in to the shower
Can’t give Corona any power
It could be eighteen weeks in isolation at best
This is going to be a huge test
Because we don’t know how long Corona...
There are certain events in life that can really make you question the meaning of it all. Why do we fight so hard to go swimming in one direction just to have the tide change and drop us in waters we never planned for, miles away from where we thought we were going.
The fear caused by uncertainty and the unknown can be powerful and paralysing, but that’s not necessarily the end of the story.
“ in my times of uncertainty this community has been a saving grace for me. I want you to know...
During this time of crisis, it may be hard to see the positives, but one thing I’ve noticed is that more people seem to be enjoying home cooking.
Whether you’re lucky enough to be sitting down more regularly as a family together; virtually sharing a special meal with a loved one via video chat; or simply chatting with other members on the Community, food is something that unites us all.
Community members have been chatting in this thread about baking, whether a distraction or necessity...
I have been trying for some time to get this blog up to date but have had technical problems.
At my check in May 2019 three tiny tumours were found and were zapped there and then with a diathermy tool (basically burned away). At the next cystoscopy in August I was clear and signed off for 6 months. At the end of February again there were three tiny tumours which were dealt with by diathermy. My next cystoscopy will be at the end of May this year (subject to coronavirus - I haven't yet enquired if...

Notes on Providing Emotional Support
‘Helping a person will not necessarily change the world, but it can change the world for that person’
Fundamentals
What do we hope to achieve when we offer emotional support? A starting point would probably include: Helping someone to cope with the difficulties that they are experiencing; helping them to find a way forwards; identifying and ensuring that the support that they have or need, is appropriate and available....
Last week I was told that the results of my latest CT scan showed a Complete Response and that I would now stop my ongoing immunotherapy treatment around 9 months earlier than the planned two year course.
Complete Response is defined as - The term used for the absence of all detectable cancer after your treatment is complete response (CR). Complete response doesn't necessarily mean that you are cured, but it is the best result that can be reported. It means the cancerous tumor is now gone and there...

Second round of chemotherapy and up to the 100% dose of 400mg temozolomide alongside the 3rd round of immunotherapy at the start of the month. Bloods came back all good and rash and itching have cleared up so treatment went ahead as planned. Annoyingly the cannula caused issues on this round of immunotherapy, first one went in and couldn’t get any blood and the 2nd one had to be wriggled in. On top of that when it was taken out the blood swelled up under the skin to the size of a golf ball...
