    Dad is going to 'go to his reserved  fishing peg' very soon. He will catch all the fish that got away....

    I am going to miss him.

    I am at home at the moment, the journey takes 45 min to get back to the hospital and if I were to get a call, I may not get there in time... I know this and in many ways I wonder if I did the right thing coming home... I have just done 36 hours at his bedside and needed to sleep..…

  • Sunday - a call to get to hospital quick...

    Sunday morning I had a call that just said ' your Dad has taken a nasty turn for the worst and they [the hopsital] think the family should come and see him if they wish' I felt for my brother in law having to make this call to me... I could hear it in his voice - must remember to say to him he did it really well... I just said 'ok , thanks' and put phone down...

  • Dad has another set back...

    Today Mum got a call saying Dad needed a chest drain putting in as the infection was still their and he had now too much fluid on his lungs.

    She was told he was having it done this morning, but when she arrived at 2.30 pm for visiting time - they had decided Dad was not well enough to have it done after all.

    All the specialists have been to see him again and they are pumping him full of anti biotics and put him on fluids…

    I haven't written to you since I was a little girl. You remember I used to write you notes and leave them places. Well this is a letter from me that I know you will never see, however it is a letter I need to write, right now as you lie in hospital feeling scared and lonely.
