A Carcanoid Syndrome Carers View

Less than one minute read time.

Just joined this online blog thing!!! I don't really know what i'm doing.

My husband was diagnosed with the Syndrome about 4 years ago. Things have been ticking along fine....3 months ago we were told it may be in his lungs now (he already has it in his gut and liver).  A visit to the local A/E confirmed this....we were also told he has a big tumour on his Aeorta.

For some reason this has hit me very hard....I am terrified and want to run away.  I can't cope with feeling what I'm feeling.

I love him so much..I will always be by his side.  We visit the Oncologist on Monday 6/12/10.  I will find out more then.

    Hi Suco,

I am so sorry to hear of your husbands recent bad news.  I too found myself in a similar situation some years ago when II cared for my Mum after she was  diagnosed with Lung cancer, and then with a  secondary brain tumour.

I too found myself wanting to run away as the news of the brain tumour was just too much to bare and I found it really difficult to speak to other family members as they  were all falling apart . However I was fortunate to have a very good friend who supported me through  both the good and bad times.  She also encouraged me to take occasional time out to recharge my batteries. Do you have support from friends or family?

I too have recently joined this site and have found the kindness and support of other members invaluable. It is amazing just how much inner strength that we each have in these circumstances but it is also good to know that there are others here to speak to when we need some extra strength or advice,

Contact me any time if you wish to, but for now I  am sending a Big Hug and Lots of Love

    Take care, Polly.xx.

    .

Do you have a good support network in friends or family?

Polly, Johns family don't bother with him, they never have, they don't visit ....It's all down to me. I have no support network at all.

I have found out about a carers group on Thursdays but "something" always happens and I can't go!!!
