  • Radiotherapy day 3 out of 30

    Things moved a little quicker today, there was less measuring. The mask seems to Irritate my left eye a little bit which made it quite watery. Also kept wanting to swallow all the time. My tongue has some tingley feelings but I think it was like that before. Also keep Feeling strange odd twinges in my neck but nothing significant.   • Radiotherapy Day 1 out of 30

    Started the radiotherapy today. Had to be there for 9am but no one had mentioned there was a whole different waiting area for appointments. Once we found that out we were quick to be seen. A nice gentleman went through what was happening again, checking that I knew what to expect and going over possible side effects again.(sore mouth inside and out, trouble eating, tiredness, possible hair loss at exit point.)

  • Day 48 - Consultants, insurance, eating more calories and waiting......

    The second appointment with the consultant was last Friday. He feels a bit like an old friend now, and I recognise the nurse too, so it's a comfortable experience now. Explained to him  the results of everything that's happened since I last saw him and the dates for RT starting next week.

    He gave everything a check and was very pleased with the way it was all progressing. he looked at the 2 stiches in  my side…

  • Day 43 - Visit to the breast clinic

    Today I visited the breast clinic after the team decided they needed to eliminate and tiny chance the the lump had been a secondary to a primary in the breast because if was a similar type to those often found there as primaries. Started out filling in a questionnaire and a form asking if you wanted copies of letters sent to the doctor.

  • Day 40- Radiotherapy Planning visit, mask making

    Got a call on Friday asking me to come in for the radio therapy planning meeting at 10.30 today. The visit started with a trip up stairs to the chemo ward to have a blood test and a cannula fitted as apparently they wanted to inject me with some kind if dye to get better images for my first scan. The blood test was to make sure that my kidneys were working properly.

    Once that was done it was straight into the mask making…
