    Well, here is the first of many firsts.

    I know from a close friend how difficult the first year is after losing a loved one, Birthday, Christmas, Anniversary - Father's Day.

    Mum wanted to mark the day so we planted a tree & had some food, it has been a very sombre day and one that I wont forget in a hurry.

  • Goodbye Dad

    Yesterday we said goodbye to my wonderful Dad.

    As the funeral procession passed the factory where Dad was working, his collegues were all stood outside, head bowed, it was both heartbreaking yet touching to see Dad's work mates who were unable to make the service paying their respects.

  • Dad has gone

    Dad passed away at 5am this morning. We were with him from noon yesterday and he was comfortable the whole time having been given diamorphine and midazolam among other things.

    He spent his last days in St Cuthbert's Hospice in Durham who have been absolutely fantastic - the Hospice is beautiful and the staff are the most amazing people I have ever met - the NHS staff have NOTHING on these guys.

  • Dad's journey with lung cancer

    Well, he didn't expect to be here last Christmas and he's squeezed in another! Yes, he was (and still is) in hospital for most of it and he wasn't exactly dancing a jig but at least here was here.

  • a long old year on a rollercoaster

    Dad was diagnosed with nsclc last July, a month before his 60th birthday.

    He suffered chemo, radio and has been off work ever since. On his annualk review we raised the problematic headaches, several, weeks and scan later and yes, it has spread to both his bones and his brain.
