Dad has gone

Less than one minute read time.

Dad passed away at 5am this morning. We were with him from noon yesterday and he was comfortable the whole time having been given diamorphine and midazolam among other things.

He spent his last days in St Cuthbert's Hospice in Durham who have been absolutely fantastic - the Hospice is beautiful and the staff are the most amazing people I have ever met - the NHS staff have NOTHING on these guys.

So many of you have provided information, support, ears and advice and I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.

I remember how lost I felt when I joined the site and can honestly say that the most accurate information I have been given was provided by you guys - Thank You!!

I will be busy over the next few weeks but will be back in touch with you all soon,

Stay strong guys, make the most of every day

    Hi shelle

Very sorry to learn that your dad has passed, although a blessing that his passing was peaceful.

There are no words that can adequately comfort you at this time but try to remember that you carry your dad with you in your heart forever so he will never be too far away.

I will be thinking of you at this difficult time, and please remember that everyone here is always willing to lend an ear and a pair of arms to send a ((hug)).

    With love sharonx

I am so sorry, to hear of your loss. I am glad that it was peaceful and now your dad can rest in peace.

I lost my dad on the 18th dec and I'm still finding it hard to come to terms with.  I do find some comfort in the fact that I was with him right til the end and I know you will be able to hold on to that too.

I hope everything goes well for you over the next few things - you are right things will be busy but remember to take care of yourself and allow yourself time to grieve. It will all come out eventually, make sure you have your friends an family close and they will help you through the difficult times. If you need it there are always people on here willing to listen. Sometimes just blogging works wonders! Best wishes. Vikki. xx
