Nearly 3 weeks post op

1 minute read time.
Hey guys. Sorry I've not been on since before op. but my op was now three weeks (on Thursday) past- I am so glad to be on the other side of things. The pain isn't as bad as I thought it would be which can only be a good thing. I stayed with my sister for two weeks but am now back at home, it was fun having her shower me the first few days.... Haha! In hospital I was given my own room, I did struggle. It was all so foreign to me. I felt so sore and heavy and it did take me a few days before I had a look. And when I did I didn't like what I saw. I know they will settle over the next few months, but right now one is massively bigger and I may require an ultrasound to see if fluid is there and if so a needle will need to be inserted but that may puncture the implant. :( I am getting stronger each day and am trying to wean myself off the tramadol!! But little things like walking the dogs for ten mins tires me out, having a shower and getting ready for the day basically leaves me feeling like I need to go back to bed, but I know I'll get there. I have stopped looking at myself in the mirror as I don't like what I see. So emotionally this is not good.

Hello Weeaims.  Good to hear from you again, I'd been wondering how you were getting on.  It must be a relief that the operation is out the way now.  As you are realising, the recovery after any operation takes a while.  My surgery wasn't such a big operation as yours and I can definitely relate to what you are saying about little things wearing you out.  I was exhausted just having a shower in the mornings and I certainly wouldn't have been up to taking a dog for a walk!  If you're not already, I would encourage you to be active in the breast cancer group.  There must be plenty of ladies there who have had the same operation as you and will be able to give you help and support as you recover.  Take care xx
