    My nurse has been round again today.  She is sent by the Dietician at the hospital, who is part of my MDT.  She looks after my feeding tube, checks my weight, and gives me a quick overall check up.  Last visit two weeks ago the nurse diagnosed oral thrush and gave me a letter for my GP asking for a prescription.  The surgery were very unhelpful and I eventually ended up with a prescription for something else.  I was grumpy…

    Following on from yesterday’s blog post, I now have finished the list I promised to make of 20 positive things that have come out of me having cancer. 

    I have strengthened existing friendships and made new ones. 

    I am saving a fortune by not going to the hairdressers and the beauty parlour.

    It is very nice to be able to lounge around in my pyjamas without anyone making comments.

    I am still struggling through my recovery.  Before I started my treatment I remember chatting to a patient in a waiting room.  He told me that his recovery was worse than his treatment.  I didn’t understand what he meant then but I get it now.  I think in my case it’s the build-up of lots of irritating minor niggles.  You get one thing sorted and then something else immediately pops up in its place.  My mouth is…

  • Feeling a little gloomy

    Been feeling a bit gloomy the last couple of days.  It all started when I got an email from work telling me that they are taking me off full pay from the beginning of next month.  I wasn’t surprised, I have been expecting it for weeks.  I’ll have been off work 6 months then and I’m only entitled to 3 months full pay, so they have been more than generous.  It just got me to thinking again that by getting…

    I try very hard not to have Mrs Grumpy days.  I like to try to stay positive and cheerful, to be grateful that I am here, and to make the best of each day.  I know that there are many people less fortunate than me so I always feel guilty for a Mrs Grumpy day.  However sometimes they can't be avoided.
