Following on from yesterday’s blog post, I now have finished the list I promised to make of 20 positive things that have come out of me having cancer.
I have strengthened existing friendships and made new ones.
I am saving a fortune by not going to the hairdressers and the beauty parlour.
It is very nice to be able to lounge around in my pyjamas without anyone making comments.
I enjoy not going to work.
I am always at home to receive my internet shopping deliveries.
It is lovely to have the time to read lots of novels.
My immune system is the perfect excuse to ban people from the house if I don’t want them visiting.
I am spending more time with my husband than I used to.
I am now as slim as I was when I was 14.
I have never had so many cards and presents.
I get loads of help with the housework.
I may now have the opportunity to set up my own business or retire early.
I should get a better annuity rate for my pension.
I can turn down social invitations I don’t fancy without offending anyone.
I am spending considerably less money on food.
Giving up alcohol must have done me some good.
I have a card for free NHS prescriptions for 5 years.
I have got more time to look after my garden.
Trivial things that used to annoy me don’t matter anymore.
I don’t have to waste money on clothes and shoes for work.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
