Just when you think its safe

Less than one minute read time.
Two weeks after my final chemo session, just when you think you are safe then i fell foul of the dreaded and most feared neutropenia. Found i had severe flu like symptons last wednesday and thursday and was at work would you believe, but thursday night i couldnt get warm, despite a roaring fire, hot water bottle and blanket whilst on the sofa, my daughter took my temperature and immediately rang the hospital. I had to go in there and then and was admitted until i came out this evening, was in protective isolation and felt thoroughly miserable. So just a gentle reminder to take care even if its your last treatment you dont get away with this. I know i shouldnt moan and some people can get this awful infection whilst halfway through chemo and i guess i was lucky it was the last one so wont fall foul of it again. Thankfully i am back at my daughters home in Hertfordshire even with 4 inches of snow in the back garden. But at least i am out of hospital. Love to all xxxxxxx janis

neutropenia is the strangest thing i had it for 3 of my 4 chemos 1st time didn't even know  i had it 2nd time boy did i white count of  -4 and septicemia and c diff, the last time after my last chemo was 3 weeks after and white count of -7 BUT i felt absoloutly fine apart from being miffed at my op being cancelled , no shivers ,no sniffles but a horribly low white count. i still don't understand it but do know how much it can throw a spanner in the works. plus i had the injections for the last 2 chemos still they dipped !

glad your back home and thank goodness its your last one.

Oh thank you for your wishes, i do feel so much better.  You dont realise how rubbish you feel until you dont! lol.  It was lovely to sleep in my own big bed last night here at Georgena's but i am going home on Saturday which will be nice.  This morning was lovely i crept into the garden even with so much snow the sun was shining and the sky was blue and the air was delishious after that awful hospital feeling of too much heat and no air circulation.  I aim to be in and out for surgery i dont want to hang around in hospital, theres too many ill people bless them.

Thank you all and lots of love xxxxxxxxxxx

I'm sorry to hear that you've not been well.  What rotten luck for you to have the 'heeby jeebies' after your final chemo. I am really glad that you're feeling better now and I want to wish you good luck with your future surgery. Please let me know how u get on with it as i know we are walking a similar path at the moment.  Hey! Good luck to us both and may we be both strong and powerful at this very difficult time.

    Good luck Janis!!

    Love
