one step at a time will get you to your destination...

1 minute read time.

hi folks,

OMG success at logging in, now wot to say. First just to update on manuka honey.... after a long conversation with the head staff nurse in charge of my chemo the subject of manuka honey came up.I had been taken it after reading, like alot of ther people , the benifits to the immune system. As it turns out there has been various tests done on this and the results have shown that certain types of pollen collected and used in manuka honey has a detrimental effect on types of chemo( MUST STRESS NOT ALL CHEMO ).I was asked to bring in the jar and the lab would check, this was a jar of +10 manuka honey from aldi, it didn't list all the infomation so i was advised against it. The advice i was given at newcastle's cancer research centre is to ask or take a jar in for the hospital to asses, like i said i must stress not all chemo is affected, as not all manuka honey comes from the same region.

Well after a terrible chemo cycle, i've had my 4th course and now waiting (thats wot we do WAIT) for my restaging on the 1st of dec, guess wots on my santa's list. the oncologist is mildy optumistic things look good as i'm eating normal food ( even had a pizza as a treat ) no weight loss or pain and feel alot more happier in myself. So fingers toes crossed.

on a sad note, a very close friend  has just found out his father has terminal lung cancer, he lost his mother to this on the 10/10/ 07. his dad was diagnosed on 10/10/11. poxy cancer. told him to check out macworld for support.

as always stay happy positive and love those around you,  joe xx

    Hi Joe,

    Well done for logging on!

I was on chemo last year and asked if I could keep on eating manuka, the nurses back then had a list of what to not take and it wasn't on the list. Things change though don't they!

Bloody chemo, and bloody waiting, all of it gets right on my...... Got my first scan (post op) coming up next week so more waiting for me too!

certainly hope Santa is going to bring you what you want, fingers crossed for the 1st.

Hope your remaining chemos are as ok as this one and that you keep getting to eat pizza! (blimey, I am impressed)

All appendages crossed that you get your request to Father Christmas and better! I never had this restaging thing so not sure what one wishes for.. a better stage? No stage? whatever it is, you'd better get it or they'll have me to answer for and I may be small, but I have a door and a baseball bat about me... so tell em from me.. good news only eh? You could also ask Ruby to push her glasses down and give them a hard stare too...

Sorry to hear about your mate and his dad. He will of course get support on here.

    hi my loon.

restaging is just another term for cat scanning the gullet monster to see wot the chemo has done.

    i was given 3 scenarios:-

1- horace got bigger and invited his friends along to party in my bod.

2- chemo worked and stopped the spread aswell as reducing horace and allowing me a better life

3- there was a 10% chance it reduced it far enough for an operation.

guess which 1 we're hoping for.

keep the bat handy me friend  big hugs joe x
