    Hi Borderer

I am going to request you as a friend, my husband underwent reconstruction surgery to create a neobladder (from part of his bowel).  I am happy to let you know of his, and my, experience about this.  In short I don't think I would recommend it.  However, please feel free to get in touch if you would like.

Thanks for reply. I would love to get in touch but I am new to the site and can't navigate it very well.

I think if you check the e-mail address that you gave you should find a message saying to accept my friendship, then I can send you a private message Judi

If that doesn't work, post here again and I am sure we can sort something out

    Hi Borderer.

    Answers to your questions...

Can you empty the bags - yes and very easy, just like going to the loo except you open the small tap at the bottom of the bag and let it all flow out into the loo/urinal. Easy at home or in a public toilet.

When do you change bags - I change mine every two or three days after a nice bath. Some people change them quicker, other only change them once a week.

What size is the bag - the bags hold about 150 - 200 ml of liquid and are about 6" long x 3" wide normally but very thin so nobody knows that you have them on.

    Does it smell - nope!

How does it stay put - the flanges have an adhesive that sticks to your stomach. You then get a simple spray that loosens the glue when you want to change your bag.

Any problems with rolling on it at night - at the beginning it happens but not once you're used to them. I'm only 9 weeks post surgery and an accident is now very very very rare.

Can you take a bath or shower - showers with the bag on are no problem at all. I have a shower every day and have no problems at all. I take my bag off for a bath and have a relaxing soak then put a new fresh bag on after. A session of luxury for me :-)

what follow up routines are there - your Stoma nurse will be there with you all the time, giving tips etc etc

    Hope these answers help

Just shout if you want to know more

    All the best mate
