    Hi Borderer,

    Andrew has it spot on.

I was told not to use soap or other bath stuff, talc, lotions and colognes around the stoma, water only.

I use 2 different types of bags.  I use a HOLLISTER CONVEX bag and a COLOPLAST MAXI CONVEX bag.

I use the convex bags as it tends to push the stoma into the bag more and away from the skin.  This helps avoid leaks around the flange.  The flange is more rigid on these bags and also has eyelets where you can use a soft belt for added comfort and security from leaks.  The belt is adjustable for size fits both the coloplast and hollister bags.

The Hollister is the one I use the most and like Andrew I change mine every 2/3 days.  The coloplast has a bigger capacity and I use one of these if I'm having a night out down the pub etc.  as it means I don't have to empty so often.  I tend to have a higher fluid intake on such nights and sometimes use a coloplast leg bag for an extra 500 CC's capacity.  It plus straight into the coloplast bag and can be used with the hollister too, using the adapters they supply with each box.  The leg bag is good if you are travelling for long periods of time and emptying is not always available.  I often use leg bags when driving.  I know some folks also use leg bags instead of the night bags to avoid problems with the tube while sleeping.

Google urostomy bags for more information,  Free samples are easy to come by and most companies are happy to help.

    Good luck mate.

    Cheers,  Mike
