How the Online Community homepage works
You will see when you set up your account and join the Online Community, that your view of the homepage is different to when you are logged out. When you are logged in, you will see a “Welcome back” message at the top of your homepage.
If you are on a computer, you will see a list of options at the top of your screen for the different parts of the Online Community.
If you are on a mobile phone or tablet, you may see a stack of three bars in the top right corner.
You can click on this to see the different places you can access on the Online Community.
Our Help pages have further explanation of how to use these different sections.
On the homepage, you will see a section called “Your notifications.” Your notifications are letting you know when members have interacted with posts you’ve made, or sent you a friend request. If you want to see all your notifications, click the “view all notifications” button.
When you scroll down on the homepage, you will see groups you are a member of. You will not see any groups listed if you have not joined any yet. You can find out here how to join groups.
If you would like to see all of your groups, just click “View all your groups” at the bottom of the list.
If you scroll down further, you will then see recent activity from the Online Community.
“All items” is recent content from the Online Community, from all our different groups. This is a way to quickly keep updated on what members are talking about on the site.
If you click on the button underneath “Recent activity” which reads “From my groups”, you will then see content from groups you are a member of. You will also see questions and posts from Ask an Expert in this section.
When you click on the button which reads “My friends’ posts”, you will then only see content from your friends on the Online Community.
When you scroll down, you will then see a section called “Community updates.” This is a section where you will see the latest content from Community News. Community News is run by Macmillan staff and features tips and resources, and personal stories from our members and people affected by cancer.
You can click “View more” to see all of our Community News blogs.
Further down the homepage, you will have the opportunity to access further information and support from Macmillan’s website.
If you would like to access these resources, click on the buttons which read “Get information and support” or “View covid hub.”
Please remember that the Community team are also available over email to email@example.com if you would like further help with finding the right support for you.
You also have the option to send some information around the Online Community to a friend or loved one.
If you click “Share by email”, you will see a pop-up where you will have the opportunity to send information about the Online Community and how to sign up to someone else.
