How do I send and view friend requests?

On the Online Community, you need to be friends with a member in order to send them private messages. You can also be friends with members to keep updated with their activity. You can hover over another member’s username, which will bring up the option to “request friendship.” Please note that this will only work on computers or laptops. To see how you can request friendship on mobile, please scroll down.

You can also click on another member’s username to be taken to their profile. When you are on their profile, click “connect” on the right to add them as a friend.

You can view your friends list by clicking on your profile. You can access your profile by clicking on your profile picture icon in the top right. You can then select “Profile” from the list.

To access your profile while using your mobile, click on the arrow on the top right of your screen.

You will then be able to select your profile by clicking on your profile image:

You can then view your friends below your profile description. You can also click on “Friends” from the options below your username to view your friends.

On a mobile, you can view your friends by clicking on "More":

You can then select "Friends from the menu:

If you receive a friend request from another member, you will receive a notification. You can view your notifications by clicking on the notifications icon:

Click on the notification to see the request. This will take you to a screen where you can see any friend requests you have from other members.

Click on “Accept/reject” below a member’s username to accept the request. You can then click “Accept friend request” or “Reject friend request” from the list.

How do I send a private message?

Once you are friends with a member, you will be able to send them a private message. Your message will not be visible to other members on the site.

To access private messages, click on the icon on the top right of your Community homepage:

If you're using a mobile, you'll first need to click on the arrow in the top right of your screen:

You'll then be able to select the "messages" icon.

Click “new message” to send a private message.

Type in the username of the member you would like to message in the text box at the top which says, “find recipients.” You can then select the member from the list or click ‘enter’.

If you have selected the wrong member to message, you can click on the red cross icon next to their username. This will mean your message will not be sent to them.

Once you have selected a member, you can then type your message in the text box at the bottom of the screen.

Click ‘enter’ when you have finished your message to send it. If you’d like to change your settings so that pressing ‘enter’ does not automatically send your message, you can unselect this by clicking in the tick box. This means you will need to click “send” to post your message.

You can click on “view all” to access your previous private conversations.
You can then click on your conversations from the list to bring up any previous conversations. You can also click “new” to start a new conversation.
