Hello. I'm new to this forum. I've been diagnosed with Stage 3 endometrium cancer.
I'm on a trial at UCLH for pre-surgery immunotherapy. Had my first treatment on Wednesday and the 2nd will be in 3 weeks. It is anticipated that hysterectomy will be in September.
Has anyone else taken part in this trial. What were your outcomes? Even after the the first treatment, I am now free of all pain, which has amazed me. I did ask the consultant beforehand how long it would be before the tumour started to shrink and I started to feel less pain. He said I might not feel any different at all!
Has anyone else had this same experience? Also, has anyone else had pre-surgery immunotherapy and has not needed surgery in the end?
Hi Foxylady
Welcome to the Womb group.
I am sorry to hear of your diagnosis of stage 3 endometrial cancer.
I have not heard of the trial at UCLH where they give neoadjuvant immunotherapy. It does sound a promising trial.
I am pleased that your first session went well and that it has led to you being pain free.
I have not heard of anyone during my time on here who has only had treatment with immunotherapy and then gone on to not need the hysterectomy. The hysterectomy tends to be the standard treatment, where it is medically possible. Where it is not medically possible then some ladies have had hormonal treatment.
I wish you well with the rest of your treatment and do let us know how you get on.
If it would help to talk things through- we do have the Macmillan Support Line that is available from 8am-8pm every day.

Thank you for your response. The trial is to see the extent to which the tumour shrinks with immunotherapy, which would facilitate surgery, or indeed to see if the tumour disappears altogether. I'm not sure what they would do if it disappears altogether. It would have to be reviewed again at that time.
