Hi I had my op on the 29th January (26) my recovery is going well.
My question is regarding flying long haul. My flight is on the 19th Feb I’m a bit worried about the risk of blood clots has anyone flown so soon after their op? If so any advice would be welcomed.

This sounds like something you need to consult with your doctor for. You are right to be thinking about the risks of blood clots and taking a long haul flight so soon after major surgery. The risk of blood clots is the main reason why they normally offer anticoagulant injections/ stockings . Although you appear to be recovering ok it can take time to heal on the inside. I wonder also how it could affect any travel insurance etc. How far would you be going and also what emergency medical care would be available to you if you did become unwell. I am also thinking of possible complications such as infections, wound complications etc.
I wonder also whether you may need specific medical clearance to fly. This is not something I personally know about but I would urge you to talk to your doctor if the travel is unavoidable. If it is for a holiday, I wonder whether any insurance would cover you for postponing it.
At the moment you are only 5 days post op, which while it is reassuring that you are recovering ok- this is still early days.
