Hi all new to this group. Not new to Macmillan though as been going through breast cancer treatment last 12 months all clear with that (at the mo) as cautious to everything now just finishing my target therapy (last one December) was taking tamoxifen but oncologist has stopped for now due to constant spotting (nearly 4 weeks now) had ultrasound and transvaginal done and went to see gynacologist last week I have thickening on my endometrial lining of 16-17cm and where I thought I had one cyst on my ovary (after speaking to gyno nurse) she has told me there is quite a lot of cysts there. I'm waiting on a letter for a hysteroscopy which im dreading as heard they are very painful aswell as worrying like mad as they doing biopsy too. Only just gone through 12 month anniversary with my breast cancer diagnosis and now feel like it's starting again. I'm in limbo at the mo as don't have a clue what's going on and not really anybody to talk to who understands and don't like to worry people once again!! I had to have blood test before I left my gynacology appointment what does this check?
Thank you very very much for your lovely response back. That is very much appreciated. Yes l really think all of this is weight based because it seem strange that l have managed to loose Cpl stone in 2 months till stop the bleeding l will carry on with the weight loss without usin mountjro
I am. So so grateful for this forum, you are all amazing
I appreciate that it is late and you don't want to be sat around in A&E for hours.
I would follow the nurses advice. Why not give NHS111 a call and get triaged. They may just get a doctor to call you back. They also maybe able to book you directly into urgent care for the morning. But if they are suggesting A&E then they are the experts.
I had a heavy bleed and had to go to A&E- it was considered the right thing to do and my blood loss was less than what you are currently experiencing. Even if it stops over the next couple of hours, you may already have lost a fair amount.
I would expect them to do routine obs. blood pressure etc and blood test to check for haemoglobin levels. When my haemoglobin levels dropped- I felt pretty awful but a blood transfusion really helped.
Your choice of course- just concerned.
Hi, Just wanted to add that apart from a general anaesthetic for your hysteroscopy, you could ask for local anaesthetic and/or gas & air. I have both and it works well. Most hospitals now offer options for pain relief, so perhaps it's a good thing to sort it out in advance as once you're there things can move quickly.....
Hi Jane I went to doctors and he has prescribed me some tranexamic to calm my blood flow down. Thanks for your concern nice to know that I have support on here as nowhere else to really turn to. Also letter came through today and leaflet said colposcopy with LLTEZ I'm confused as they gave me leaflet for hysteroscopy ?? I've tried ringing but they not answering
I am glad you went to the doctor and I did wonder whether they would prescribe transexamic to try to lessen the blood loss.
With the letter- it may be an idea to call in the morning. Is there an email address on it perhaps.
A colposcopy with LLTEZ is where they have a closer look at the cervix and take some samples. it is not something I have had but SarahH21 may be able to advise. She is one of my fellow Community Champions for the Cervical group.
Is there anything on your NHS app?
A hysteroscopy is what I would expect you to be having due to the thickened lining of your endometrium.
Thanks for the tag Jane.
Hi Mum45 -Ive read through the thread now and can appreciate you are concerned about the confusing information. As Jane has explained, the colposcopy is a closer look at the cervix with higher magnification, and often small tissue samples are taken called punch biopsies. The LLETZ is an actual treatment for removal of abnormal cells from the cervix, and is normally a follow up to an abnormal cervical screening test where these cells have been identified.
I wonder if there has been a mix up in the communications with you and the wrong information has been sent? I would have expected you to have a hysteroscopy to check the womb lining because of the thickening, but not a LLETZ treatment unless you have already been informed that some actual treatment was required after a cervical screening result.
When I was undergoing my own diagnostic tests, I had a colposcopy with punch biopsies from my cervix and a hysteroscopy at the same time. Neither of these procedures were painful for me-just slightly uncomfortable, and I had no form of pain relief at the time but I appreciate that experiences can differ.
i would suggest calling tomorrow for clarification as the hysteroscopy and colposcopy are different things, and the need for a LLETZ treatment should definitely be confirmed as it is more than just an examination.
It may be that both a hysteroscopy and colposcopy (without LLETZ) are required as part of the investigations into your bleeding and the gynaecologist is just covering all bases but I hope you can get some answers when you phone again.
Sarah xx
