Hi - All through life we are drawn to like minded friends and I'm now I'm here as a new group member! I was diagnosed with stage one cancer and I'm having my hysterectomy in a couple of weeks. I'm post menopause and never had an issues - but I'm very glad I went to the Drs early. Looking forward to hearing your stories and also being supportive to other group members.
Hi Shintysmile, welcome to the group! Good to hear you are predicted stage 1 - have you been given a predicted grade as well? I was diagnosed in late 2021 and had my hysterectomy in January 2022. Is the surgeon hoping that yours will be laparoscopic/robotic? Have you started packing your hospital bag yet or do you need any tips?
Hello there,
Good news they have spotted Cancer earlier.
Currently three weeks have past since my own hysterectomy. I don't think I was prepared for the things you can't do for yourself for the first few weeks!
Prep before your surgery too, like make sure things are in easy reach when you are back at home. Look around. Can you access everything without having to overstretch or bend too much?
Just to say, rest and make sure you listen to your body. Good to keep moving regularly and keep yourself hydrated, but rest when you need it
And good luck on your surgery
I was quite fortunate - there wasn’t a lot I couldn’t do for myself post op other than lifting things heavier than a mug of tea. I was able to start going for gentle short walks as soon as I came home from hospital and gradually increased from 5 mins over the first few days.
Yes, defo!
Don't think you realise how much you use ab muscles for things!
Hi - Yes it a robot op which is great as it can mean a quicker recovery. My bag is packed :)
Hi - that's great advice. I've got a few days at home now to get organised so I will go look about :)
Hi - My aim is to get washed every day and do a little walk to get moving - I drink lots of tea but I think I'll need to move to diluting juice or water.
Hi - day 13 after surgery and that was such a great top tip - keep all the things you need handy :)
