Post menopause had bleeding in November 2023, all checked and no problems.
Fast forward to 6 weeks ago, similar thing but different symptoms. Scan shows 20mm womb lining.
GP apologised because since June last year I've been on oestrogen hrt patches without the progesterone. I had an appointment with my gynaecologist last June and was consented for hysterectomy due to endometriosis.
Now this has happened I'm a bit worried, got appointment on 11th Feb for biopsy.
Hello NJH75
I am sorry to hear of your bleeding and hyperplasia. A thickened endometrium can have different causes and it would be normal in the circumstances to arrange for a biopsy.
I can understand your concern regarding the HRT but I think I would be somewhat reassured because you were checked both in Nov 23 and also seen in June. So if something has developed since and the unopposed oestrogen has influenced it, then it is within the last 6 months. I am not sure whether any endometriosis could lead to a thickened lining. You could give the Support Line a call and talk to one of the nurses if it would help.
This link gives a bit of information on hyperplasia.

I hope that your biopsy goes ok and that you have the results back quickly. In the meantime we are here if you need us.

Hi,
I really sympathise with you as I’m in the same predicament.
I too was prescribed oestrogen only HRT, without progesterone! I was bleeding heavily & scan revealed 22mm lining.
Last week I had my hysteroscopy, biopsies and they found a polyp, which they removed. The wait for results is agonising.
However, I’m trying to remain positive amongst the anxiety and hope that we just need some progesterone to sort us out! Currently suffering with oestrogen withdrawal symptoms as they’ve stopped my HRT until I get results. Although, like you I’m not sure that I want to restart it after all this trouble. What I’d love is a hysterectomy so I don’t have to worry about all this, especially as I’ve had previous gynaecology issues in the past, requiring surgery.
Thinking of you and I’m sure that we will be ok
Sorry you're going through this too, I have one more week until my hysteroscopy. I just don't understand that if bleeding is present suerly that's the womb lining shedding.
Anyway good luck, hope the result is good for you.
Thanks just had scans done.
Womb lining 4.7mm tolerance is 4mm so not massively over. I have a small fibroid at the top of my womb and a 1.5cm cyst on my ovary. Consultant said biopsy, camera he said didn't see anything sinister but the cyst they will keep am eye on, just having a blood test for CA markers. Good luck ladies
It looks like I might be a lucky one.
